A charismatic viola player, an expressive voice and sound artist from Vojvodina (Serbia), Popržan has energized the Viennese music scene with her projects Catch-Pop String-Strong, Sormeh and Madame Baheux. After the widely-heralded solo programme “La Folia”, she started a new project that exploded in December 2022 at the Kick Jazz showcase. With her musical settings of poems by Tamar Radzyner (1927–1991), Popržan has built a musical monument to this Jewish-Polish poet who took up residence in Vienna after fighting in the Resistance and subsequently surviving a concentration camp. Popržan has created a programme of new instrumental pieces bristling with imaginative soundscapes and melodic stories, composed for a line-up of three talented Austrian jazz stars.
